Hello Drafters,
What if I told you, you have been going about life wrong?
In terms of achievement, there is a hack you can use.
You can place your focus so that you don’t work towards emptiness but towards achieving something you want.
I learned this formula three weeks ago, and since applying it have already had phone calls and meetings with the crème de la crème of my industry.
By the time you get to the end of this email, you will know how to do the same.
Would that interest you?
The way they taught us to accomplish our goals was all wrong.
The approach was terrible.
So trash, many people who reach success don’t know it’s a successful technique.
It’s not your fault.
It is how we were all taught.
They taught us to figure out how to do the entire goal ourselves.
If you want to become a TOP movie director.
Most aspiring directors think the key to making an amazing movie is learning how to write, direct, produce, cast, and build sets.
They think the key is to become a one-stop shop.
A person who can do every single thing.
Wear every hat.
Sometimes it works, but for every (Robert Rodriguez - Spykids) there are 1,000 (Tommy Wiseau's - The Room).
Now, why is that?
Is it because of a lack of talent?
In Tommy's case, yes, it is.
But not yours. You are talented.
It is because you focus on how you can build up enough motivation to learn the skills necessary to complete the entire goal from start to finish.
That’s a lot of things you have to learn.
Write. Direct. Produce. Network.
All on a professional level.
Once you master all these skills, some big HOTSHOT HOLLYWOOD PRODUCER looks at your work, points, and says, "THAT KID IS A STAR!"
Then produces all of your work endlessly, with an unlimited budget until the end of time.
Your secret is safe with me.
All creators think this deep down inside.
So you begin the journey, get overwhelmed, stop, then give up and sell yourself a crappy story about how it isn’t for you.
That the dream or goal was too much.
Or you weren’t born with the right amount of money.
Or didn’t have the right connections.
The lies are literally all bullshit.
You don’t have to buy into the hype.
If the effort you put in was the correct amount, you just put it in the wrong place.
The formula is very simple.
In fact it is three simple words.
Who. Not. How.
I know. The answer is underwhelming.
It was underwhelming when I first heard it myself, but since I learned the technique three weeks ago.
I have abused it to land meetings with a top movie agent, screenwriters of blockbuster films, and even a television producer of hit animated shows.
The formula is:
Focus on the WHO? And not the HOW it will get done.
WHO? Do I need to know that can shortcut the time and journey between me and my goal?
Rather than the old “HOW,” do I achieve my goal?
It’s hard to accomplish something you have never done before; you need directions.
It is MUCH easier to connect with someone who has done or knows someone who has done what you WANT to do.
The key is simple.
Get in touch with them and network.
The now much easier part is figuring out how to provide value to the person you want to get in touch with, WHO will help you.
Make a list of the MAIN THING you want to do, and list 5 people who know how to do it.
If you want to sell a book, make a list of 5 of the top agents.
People who would know how to put together / sell a book deal or package.
Now here is the crazy part.
Approach them, and provide them with value.
Network with those people.
I have gotten the question before:
Can I list over 5 people?
Of course, your list can be longer than five people, but we are priming the mind to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
If you want to listen to the entire approach in all its glory.
I highly recommend you read WHO? Not How by Dan Sullivan.
You can listen to the entire audiobook here.
I can't wait to see your changes.
Best,
Jordan "Close The Gap" Baylor
