Yo,
This morning I woke up and did something no morning guru has ever written about. Now productivity hack Iâve ever heard of--
No adult shit I have ever been offered.
This morning I woke up and watched cartoons.
Cartoons I enjoyed as a child and still enjoy today.
If youâve ever tried to go down the âself-improvementâ rabbit hole then you understand what I mean when I say âthese gurus take themselves far too seriouslyâ
I get it life is a serious game, but whatâs the point of all this productivity if there is no room for spontaneity?
No room for life to enter?
How is that living?
These are things I have asked myself when attempting to apply these books, and I have come to the personal conclusionâ Design your life the way you want it to be.
No book, course, or guru knows you better than you know yourself.
The main key is to design a life around your values.
What do you hold sacred?
What do you cherish?
When you sit down to ask yourself these questions, you find out that your values are vastly different from everyone elseâs. For the first time in a long time you will know yourself, and cherish what you enjoy.
Donât judge it either. What makes you -YOU is what you like.
Do you work 80 hours a week and enjoy some obscure Korean soap operas on your Friday evenings?
Why hide it? Tell your friends and get them hooked, and if they laughâTheyâre probably secret watching hoping they get together.
I remember one time I was studying the pilot episode of âGreyâs Anatomyâ (I love Shonda Rhimes as a creator.) As I was reading the pilot script, I wanted to see how it flowed on screenâ So I watched the first episodeâthen the second, before I knew it I was 2 seasons into the series and was filling out applications to attend medical school.
I wanted to be an attending doctor at Grey+Sloan Memorial Hospital.
I say that to sayâ Was I embarrassed to tell people I watched Greyâs Anatomy? At first, yeah I was but then I realized the show has been on the air (at that time) for more than 13 seasons. There were a TON of people who loved the show and had fallen into the trap just as I had.
Find what works for you- Test, break and give yourself permission to live your life.
I donât care how much money a person makes.
I care what they make.
Sincerely,
Jordan Baylor
