NO👏🏿 MAN 👏🏿 LEFT👏🏿 BEHIND👏🏿
Yesterday, I talked about Pizza and what it can teach us about manifestation (read it if you missed out…it’s a great read.)
A short summary of the email: Set the intention in your mind of your goal.
Then, prepare as if it is on the way…because you’ve mentally placed the order.
Today, I’d like to talk about people being obsessed with RESULTS and the OUTCOME of setting an intention or goal.
The best example of this that I can give actually happened inside of a nightclub. I was with my older brother and he’d just broken up with his girlfriend of 4 years and he wanted to get back into the dating scene.
Now, if you know my brother, he’s not a bad looking dude. He’s got killer abs, a charming smile, and a chiseled chin from the GODS. The only drawback is he can’t carry a conversation if you gave him a U-haul truck and 3 movers.
My dude always wants to talk about MMA, Muay Thai, or some other stuff the average girl is not into.
It’s actually pretty funny to watch him shoehorn into conversations that don’t end up going anywhere.
So, we’re at the club talking to girls and I’M having a nice conversation with the girls. EVERY SINGLE TIME we pair up, he bombs the conversations so hard that it runs both the girls away.
(NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH UFC KNOCK OUT COMPS DUDE!)
I remember the mission. It’s not my night. It’s about him. Helping him get through this breakup…by any means necessary.
NO👏🏿 MAN 👏🏿 LEFT👏🏿 BEHIND👏🏿
So I pull him to the side, and we have a conversation in the bathroom.
I say, “Hey, quit focusing on the end goal. Just be you. Let the rest go. If we hang out with these girls, cool. If not, we can stop and get tacos and drink shots at the house. Either way, it’s going to be fun.”
He shook his head while realizing that he had been in his head too long.
When we left the restroom, the girls who we had been conversing with had moved on and were grinding on other guys — but hey, it’s part of the nightlife game— if you leave your drink or woman alone too long… they might get scooped.
I turned to my brother, and we called an Uber home, stopping at a local taco shop.
Why, you might ask, am I running on about with this story?
Because the key to it was ‘not to get hung up on the outcome’ when you begin to work on a specific goal.
I repeat do not get hung up on the outcome!
What you chase with frenzy will turn into desperation, and you will repel it and it will run from you.
Let’s say you are attempting to become the #1 screenwriter in the world. That is your goal and you define what that looks like.
Tell yourself you are already #1, whether or not if there is any evidence to support it or not.
Now, what you want to do is work on the process of becoming the #1 screenwriter.
The process of brainstorming, editing, drafting, dialogue.
What does the #1 screenwriter write?
When do they write?
What is the editing process of this writer?
Then move accordingly, but focus on developing a process that becomes mechanical for you.
Talk to you tomorrow…
Best,
