Listen to this, it will change your life
Mindset can either make you or break you.
I’m halfway through the book RELENTLESS by Tim Grover.
If you haven’t had the chance to read it. I suggest you do it! The book is phenomenal; it’s written by Tim Grover, a sports trainer for 3 of the greatest basketball players ever to touch a hardwood floor.
Tim goes in-depth on the mindset it takes to drive and become the best at what you want to do. The obsessive nature and drive.
In the book, Tim goes on to say there are three types of people mindsets that allow the focus, drive, and competitive nature it takes to become a legend.
The COOLER - is that person who follows everyone else around. They are the sheep in the herd. They follow what the majority feel and think. The iconoclast. Someone who thinks for themselves.
THE CLOSER - This is what we strive to be—focused, balanced life on our own terms. We hope to be great, but the biggest issue is we divide ourselves up.
We split our focus and try to be great at a multitude of things, versus being the absolute greatest at ONE THING.
And THE CLEANER - This is someone with an insane amount of focus to be the best and to compete at an all-time level. Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dwayne Wade all contain Cleaner mentality.
A cleaner doesn’t care whether you see them or not. In fact, a cleaner would prefer you didn’t see them at all, to be honest.
So why am I talking about NBA players?
On my podcast Offstage with Jordan Baylor, I had the opportunity to chat with Hiba Sharief.
She is an extremely focused and driven CEO with whom I would consider a cleaner.
She is someone who lit a fire under me and inspired my mindset to push past pain and know that I can do more.
From Hiba, I commend her because I learned the fruits of mental toughness.
Talk to you tomorrow
Best,
Jordan Baylor
