Good Morning Creator,
What do Baseball legends Reggie Jackson, Derek Jeter, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, and even the infamous Jose Canseco, all have in common?
Most baseball fans would say they’re known for their signature home runs or hits at the base.
They are clutch hitters who have proven themselves time and time again as players that strike fear into the pitcher’s heart.
They hit homers baby.
But that is not the main reason I’m talking about the guys.
One thing you might not know about them is all of these batters can be found in the top 10 list for strikeouts.
They’ve all failed SPECTACULAR at the plate, but that is what made them great.
Simply put, they are on the list for trying to get a hit, homer, and failed….But they aren’t known for that.
To succeed, and hit homers you need to get more swings in.
That’s just the truth.
If you want to write a great book, don’t look at yourself as a Harper Lee, and write one masterpiece and dip out.
The chances of your writing a masterpiece your first outing are so low, it’s not even measurable.
NOOOOO, you need to be cranking out a series of novels…or series of shorts…or daily pages…I don’t know, you know your characters better than I do.
Step up the output of the ideas you want.
You will cut the time it takes to go from feeling like a creative “imposter” to a novice “pro” in half.
You are what you do every day.
You want to be a writer?….WRITE. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I’m giving you the creative license to SUCK HARD at whatever it is you want to do.
This is the license to freely create and suck in the process…without judgment.
I’m talking like Cats (2019) level of suck.
Now that is a level of suck, I wouldn’t wish on my enemies.
I’m giving it to you, go forth and create.
You’ve got to get your strikeouts before you hit your homers, though.
In summary, whatever your goal is to make the intention to create more in half the time.
Talk to you tomorrow…
Best,
Jordan Baylor
