šÆG.P.S. Life Decisions
āIf you think about the long term then you can really make good life decisions that you wonāt regret later.ā
ā Jeff Bezos
The above quote is one Iāve found myself thinking about a lot lately.
Iāve had a lot of time on my hands recently (thanks corona-virus).
Time to think about the futureā¦
The pastā¦
And the presentā¦
Iām realizing that every single decision that Iāve made has brought me to where I am.
Where my job isā¦. my careerā¦ my accomplishmentsā¦my failures.
All of it from my previous decisions and/or lack of my decisions.
Are you in a space where youāre feeling inadequate?
I sure know I am.
A space where I feel like I misstepped.
But one thing that Iāve learned is the way to MOVE forward is to LOOK forward.
And the best way is by taking my experiences from the past and defining them with a new meaning.
Of course, I could look back on instances in my life and see where I shouldāve āgone harderā or āavoided at all costsā, as well.
But life is a game of Xās and Oās and you learn from the missteps far more than you learn from the successes.
I believe our society analyzes failure more than we analyze success in general.
Thereās knowledge in failure.
When I began reading the book by John C. Maxwell entitled āFailing Forwardā (the audio book is on youtube if youād like to give it a quick read), a quote jumped out at me stating that:
āEach of us has to make a choice. Are we going to sleep life away avoiding failure at all costs? Or are we going to wake up and realize that failure is simply the price we pay to achieve success?ā
Iāve had to ask myself these two questions continuously since I read that quote.
And now I ask youā¦
Are you going continue to look in the past, or is it time to readjust your internal GPS and see if your failures are leading you towards your success?
