Good day. May you excel beyond your wildest dreams.
THE EMPIRE HAS FALLEN
The Fox series "Empire” can be summarized as a show that its viewers love to love, while oftentimes viewers love to hate, will be coming to an end at the conclusion of its upcoming sixth season. This is big news on the heels of it’s renewal just last week.
(We weren’t sure if the Jussie Smollett controversy had the cancellation axe hovering over the series’ decision in a big way.)
With the series now having an endgame, let’s see how they tightly wrap up the series as they begin DRIP DROPPING the last episodes. Here’s hoping that Cookie & Lucious get it together before the series finale.
Is Your Script Gender-Balanced?
John August screenwriter of Tim Burton’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and the forthcoming live-action “Aladdin”, launched the screenwriting software Highland 2, a direct competitor of Final Draft.
Screeenwriter Christina Hodson a whose focus is on women driven action films, has written the hit film Bumblebee, the upcoming Harley Quinn project “Bird of Prey”, is also drafting the script for the new “Batgirl” film. While being super busy with her writing, Hodson had wondered if screenwriting software could keep track of how much men and women spoke in a movie script, and presented the question to August.
She wondered if screenwriting software, could easily tabulate the number of male and female roles, for example, and how much each spoke. That way, writers could see and tackle the problem even before casting directors or producers had their say.
August and Hodson brought their collective minds together to create the first ever gender analysis tool, and the best part about it is … It’s FREE for download here.
Go forth and create and don’t let any MAN or WOMAN hold your story back.
Amazon Story Coming To An End…
Amazon is shutting down their free programs for screenwriters on June 30th. This is a sad day for screenwriting software, as this was a great opener tool for beginner screenwriters who wanted to learn the basics of screenwriting structure. And to top it off…it was a free and easy to use software.
SIDE NOTE for current users, any and all documents will be erased from the platform, and writers have until that date to get it off their servers and BACK UP onto their personal hard drives.
What made AmazonStorywriter such a special product, other than the fact the product was free, and streamlined the screenwriting process. It opened a writing pipeline directly to Amazon Studios which allowed submissions of scripts for potential production deals.
If you have any questions about the closure of Storywriter, Storybuilder, Corkboards or anything to do with your scripts, Amazon is imploring you to reach out and contact them if you have additional questions.
