✍🏿New Mortal Kombat Promises To Be Even Bigger Than We Thought...
Screenwriter Greg Russo has written the latest draft of the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie. We’ve had previous Mortal Kombat films, webseries, short films, and countless alliterations of the popular game series.
Russo went on the record describing the new Mortal Kombat will have a less serious tone than its predecessors, and be similar in tone to the Marvel movies.
One insider secret we do know is the upcoming adaptation is the core-seven Russo revealed that the original seven characters (Kano, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Raiden) of Mortal Kombat will be present in the film.
International action star Joe Taslim (The Raid) has signed on to star as Sub-Zero in “Mortal Kombat” for New Line Cinema.
Taslim broke out in the 2011 Indonesian actioner “The Raid.” He appeared in “Fast and Furious 6” and “The Night Comes for Us,” and currently stars in the Cinemax series “Warrior.”
Simon McQuoid will direct “Mortal Kombat” in his feature directorial debut. James Wan and Todd Garner are producing, with Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins executive producing.
Warner Bros. has dated the “Mortal Kombat” movie for March 5th, 2021.
✍🏼Two Fincher’s Working Together for ‘Mank’
The Netflix & David Fincher bromance continues as Fincher has set up his followup to 2014’s Gone Girl, called Mank. The script was written by Fincher’s late father, Howard Fincher, and follows the story of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz the man who shared the Best Original screenplay for Citizen Kane with Orson Welles.
Gary Oldman is attached to star as screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. Other films writer Herman worked on during his career included The Wizard of Oz, Man of the World, Dinner at Eight, Pride of the Yankees and The Pride of St. Louis.
Filming (in black and white) is expected to commence in November in Los Angeles. We’ll keep you posted on release date updates.

They’ve enlisted the help of John Wick creator and screenwriter Derek Kolstad who brings his track record of creating ingenious storytelling and an ability of seamless world building.
Derek Kolstad has joined the writing staff of the upcoming streaming series, which is expected to debut on the Disney+ service in August 2020.
