✍️ Writer’s Quotes to Live By
“You can sit and write in your room all you want, but until other people see it, until you see it produced for television or film or something, you're not 100 percent sure if what you wrote is actually going to work.”
- Ed Brubaker
✍🏾Data Movie from Avengers Writer’s Coming
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the brilliant screenwriters behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame will tackle data mining and manipulation of citizen’s with their latest work, which as of now is currently an untitled film.
The movie is set to focus on Christopher Wylie, who was at the center of the Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal; that company illegally mined unsuspecting Facebook users data without permission and used it for political targeting.
David Gordon Green, who most recently directed 2018’s Halloween film, is in talks to direct.
Cambridge Analytica was a huge story in 2018, and when the story broke it even forced Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg to testify in front of Congress.
Here’s the gist: a consulting firm illegally harvested millions of Facebook users personal data and used it to create micro-targeted political advertising that arguably swayed the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump.
The film will be about Christopher Wylie, the now-30-year-old whistle blower who harvested data then turned over a trove of documents to the press revealing how the company used that personal information for political gain.
Movie sounds like a dramatic documentary, but we’ll see how this one plays out.
✍️ A.P. Bio Class in Session Another Day
NBC’s sweet series “A.P. Bio”, a comedy set in Toledo, Ohio is back in action for another day as the recently canceled sitcom has been saved by NBC Universals upcoming streaming service, which has picked up the series for a third season.
“I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the fans,” said executive producer Mike O’Brien. “The cast and I are thrilled that we get to make more and I’m excited to work with the NBCU streaming platform.”
The series is Always Sunny star Glenn Howerton’s project outside of Philly where he plays a disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar Jack Griffin, who after losing out on his dream job, is forced to return to Toledo, Ohio, and work as a high school Advanced Placement biology teacher.
If you haven’t check it out, it’s a small series with big laughs.
✍🏼Ed Brubaker Inks Overall Deal With Legendary TV
Comic writer and King of Pulp writing cool Ed Brubaker has signed an overall deal with Legendary TV to bring his ideas to life.
Under the pact, the comic book and TV writer will adapt some of his beloved titles and develop originals for the studio. Some of Brubaker’s best writing can be found inside of his comic crime sagas like Criminal, Incognito, Fatale, The Fade Out and Kill or Be Killed, which have sold millions of copies internationally.
As a television writer Brubaker has contributed his work to HBO’s Westworld as well as co-created Amazon’s Too Old to Die Young,
P.S. I HIGHLY recommend any of the Criminal anthology comics, or the Kill or Be Killed series as a whole.
✍🏿Prentice Penny Boards “The Untamed” As EP
Head writer and Executive Producer of HBO’s smash hit Insecure, Prentice Penny has signed on to executive produce and develop HBO’s The Untamed, an epic fantasy tale based on the epic fantasy series Asunda, the comic book universe of the same name created by Sebastian A. Jones. The pilot will be co- written by Penny and Jones.
Here is the logline for the Asunda TV series, per Deadline:
Asunda is set in the culturally rich but war-torn world of Asunda, where an orphan girl is born of two nations and raised in a small desert town. Hunted by all, she will search for her ancestors and the courage to bind them against an ancient enemy.
The world of Asunda is reportedly inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth epics and Greek mythology, and is “similar in setting to Westeros,” which makes it an easy fit for the Game of Thrones-sized hole that HBO has in its schedule.
Can’t wait to see how this one develops.
